How to Record Your Android Phone Screen With and Without Root


People record their Android phone screen for variety of reasons. They record it for educational purposes as video tutorials, some record to report any issues on their phone, and some of them record for fun.

Recording with root

If you are using the below mentioned apps, you need to root the device with your Android apps.

Recording without root

There are some apps which help your record Android screen without rooting your device.

Lollipop Screen Recorder

Lollipop Screen Recorder by Rivulus Studios. It is available on the Google Play Store. You can also search it by launching Google Play Store and look for Lollipop Screen Recorder. Install the app, and accept permissions.

Tap the app to launch it. The app is simple to use. It has three options. The first option lets you change the recording resolution.

Reducing the resolution will reduce the file size which will be easy for sending.

The second option will let you record the screen in portrait or landscape option. Turning the device on its sides will let you change between Portrait or Landscape.

The third option will enable the device from the microphone. By enabling microphone recording, you will help the receiver as to find which options you have used on an app, and what buttons you have clicked.

  1. To record, tap on the circular icon on the top right of the screen.

The first time user will be prompted that it will record everything. Select ‘Don’t show again’, then tap Start Now.

Come out of the app, and record whatever you set about to record.

  1. To finish recording, drag down the notification bar at the top of the screen. In the screen that says Recording screen, tap Stop to terminate the recording.
  2. Re-open Lollipop Screen Recorder app and it will be visible on the main screen.

It is also available on the Screen Recordings folder on the the file manager app in the phone.

On the Lollipop Screen Recorder app, you will also find options to play, share, and delete the recording. The sharing will give you option to share with WhatsApp, Twitter, and other apps that you have installed on your phone.
